Throughout the year, many large-scale activities are undertaken. Since 1996, the garden parties of "Yanqi Spring" and "Mid-Autumn & National Day" have been held anually. Numerous well-known actors from the national professional troups including Central Nationalities¡¯ Song and Dance Troup, China Opera and Dance Drama Theatre, China Railway Troup, and Beijing Opera Troup have shown their brilliant performances here. In addition, there are various forms of civil flower parties and lion dance performances. Among all the parties, the "98 National Day¡¯s Garden Party" of Yanqi Lake was listed as the thema of Beijing International Tourism Cultural Festival in 1998. At the same time, since 1996, from July to August, series of activities on summer culture are held during the summer vacation anually. The activities, which are put forward together with water curtain films, include Yanqi Lake Troupe¡¯s dances and opera programmes featured in local characteristics; national, provincial and municipal professional troups¡¯ performances; mass participation in dancing; karaoke competitions and so on. Furthermore, other activities are held, such as the yacht races of capital journalists Cup, the inviting competitions of climbing artificial cliff on Yanqi Lake Cup, the foreign opera performances held in villages in the September of 2001, and the international climbing competition six countries in Asia and so on. The amusement park opened 15 years ago and large-scale tourism activities have been held 26 times, which attract 60 million visitors.
